Ijaz enjoys painting trees not only for their individual form but as symbols of life itself. He often transforms simple common things, like a tree, a plant, a leaf or a shrub, into striking images expressing irrepressible regenerating force of life and nature. He for instance perceives a laburnum tree, changing from its seemingly hopeless, dead predicament in winter to a vibrant blossoming in spring, as a specter of death transforming into a spectacle of life.
